myth of the human body exhibit

Last  November,  I'm trying to research for my daughter's project and I was able to see this exhibit in Taguig called  " The Myth of the Human Body" ,  I was totally shocked but aroused my curiosity on how a human body can be preserved by means of  "Plastination". And I started reading all the articles and reviews about the exhibit,  it was really amazing and did I little know off,   I started sharing it with my husband and my kid.  After a week,  we decided to go and visit the exhibit.

The exhibit venue is at the  NeoBabylon Bldg, No. 9  Bayani Road  AFPOVAI, Taguig City opens from 10:30a.m. till 8:30 p.m. Entrance fee is 350.00 per person,  they say that the exhibit will run until December 2011 .

According to the guide,  the exhibit is actually divided into 7 parts according to our body systems and each parts deals with the Greek mythology : Gods and Goddesses

1. HERACLES (Hercules in Roman Mythology) - possessing exceptional strength and power, symbolizes the muscular and the skeletal systems that support the human body.

2. POSEIDON -    God of the seas, the only god that can breath under water, symbolizes the respiratory system

3. DIONYSUS - God of wine and abundance, symbolizes the digestive system.

4. EROS  -  God of love, symbolizes the reproductive system.
5. HADES - (brother of Poseidon and Zeus) - God of the underworld, symbolizes the circulatory system of the heart which performs the endless regression of our body.

6. ZEUS  -  Ruler of the gods, symbolizes the brain and the nervous system (as the brain rule our body)

7. ARTEMIS  - Goddess of birth and fertility, symbolizes the cycle of birth, the reproductive system.

How to get there :

1)  Edsa , Pasay ( LRT- Rotonda Station ) ,  Take a jeep going to FTI, Kaliwa, get down at Gate 3 (Fort Bonifacio and take a jeep going to Bayani Road AFPOVAI and get down at Neobabylon bldg.

2)  Guadalupe - ABC  , if you are in Guadalupe take a jeep going to Bayani Road AFPOVAI and get down at Neobabylon bldg.

So when we entered the exhibit,  hahahaha,  big disappointment come up because we we're not allowed to take pictures inside the area but nevertheless the exhibit is so good to see and how the exhibit made possible especially in the Philippines.

I've read in the articles that "plastination" is an innovative anatomical technology where specimens like human body, animals are permanently preserved and retaining all the texture of the skin tissues, and including their capillaries, water and lipids are replaced by curable polymer (silicone, epoxy or polyester) that are subsequently hardened . The plastination of specimens is valuable for research and teaching.

But I wonder,  can you really look at them without any hesitations? because when I saw those babies cut in half , dissected their bodies and mutilated for a hundred times (because I saw a body that cutted like a porkchop from head to toes) ,  whoaaaa,  I can not imagine if it happened to me or to my families because I even saw a man with his eyes open but he was dissected several times and he looks like a bird with flying muscles and all.

Anyway,  it was indeed a great experience but mind-blowing for me and my family .

Puerto Galera , Mindoro

Puerto Galera - The beautiful place that I already visited twice and I'm still willing to visit it again and again .  Among travelers and backpackers, White beach and Sabang beach  is their favorite place   because it has an active nightlife with numerous bars and restaurants. Also,  both beaches have an array of first class and economy class accommodations.

White beach, Puerto Galera  remains one of my favorite place , my first visit here was in 1990 and then in 1999  and during those years there was a  tremendous changes and improvement in the area, new restaurants and places to stay are rapidly increasing and behind the beaches you can see the unexplored mountain. If you don't have much money or time ,  Puerto Galera is the best alternative for you to choose .

The waters around the coastal of Puerto Galera are rich in corals and marine life ,  you can even see vendors selling fishes along the area that you can easily cook afterwards,

How to get here : (more economical and do-it-yourself)
Puerto Galera is easily accessible from Manila
by bus - there's a lot of bus in Buendia (LRT station)  JAM Transit, TRI Transit and Alps transit or BLTB Co from Pasay City,  it will only take you 2-3 hours travel from Manila to Batangas Pier and another 1 hour from Batangas Pier to Puerto Galera

From Batangas Pier just take another 5-10 minutes walk and you can see a wide selection of ferries,  you can take RORO- Montenegro Line (where you can take your vehicle) or just an ordinary vessel for you to ride like  Island Cruiser , Blue Eagle, Supercat and Si-Kat Ferry ,  for the rates - sorry I forgot to write it down.
